This Saturday started early with an opportunity to photograph a charity motorcycle run and actually experience the event first hand. Ride for Autism was held for the first time ever thanks to the Valley Achievement Center and a variety of sponsors. The Yokuts Park originated run consisted of five stops and was a spirited road romp inspired by the need to help those suffering from Autism.

Other artists in the show included Deon Bell, Jeremy White, Alex Casteneda and Johnny Ramos. You can view more information about The Reiter Gallery at http://www.reitergallery.com/

Well-known business leaders and professionals from the Bakersfield area gathered at The Marriott this past Valentine's day for the Downtown Business Associations "State of the Downtown" breakfast. KERO news anchor Mike Hart hosted the morning meal with DBA Chairman Bob Bell and Mayor Harvey L. Hall also speaking.
The DBA's continued push toward a revitalized downtown district includes a new slogan, "Be a part, support the heart" and that was the theme of a video message presented by Hectic Films. This unifying approach was repeated throughout the 90-minute event.

Sandrini's has been a hotbed for the downtown Bakersfield music scene for a number of years now and last night's show was no exception to the trend. Debuting band, The Architecture, headlined a simple show in the typically crowded underground venue. The five member group boasted a self-described indie sound with a toolbox of musical instruments in the mix helping to give the music something other then a typical aging-hipster stab at rockdom.

Urban portrait settings are some of my favorite, especially when the family you are photographing have as much love as this one does. Kent, Bethann and Corinne spent a morning with me exploring the nooks and alleys of downtown Bakersfield. Smiles were abound and laughs were shared.
View the gallery and enjoy the emotion of this beautiful group of people. I look forward to the honor of photographing this little one as she grows and learns the love of her parents.

The Bellingham Farmer's Market bustled on the brisk morning of Oct. 16 as local fresh vegetables, breads, meats and cheeses filled baskets and bellies. Like many areas throughout the nation, the community supported agriculture movement in Bellingham is a passion for many small farmers and artisans. This gallery is a selection of snapshots taken while I experienced my first Bellingham Farmer's Market. In true Benjamin Franklin fashion I bought a loaf of bread and enjoyed the scenery as I explored the vendors' variety of offerings.

The Hectic Films Guerilla Marketing Team rolled two-zombies deep downtown this past Thursday during the 2011 Saint Patrick's Day festivities at Fishlips Bar.
Green flesh was the theme of this undead publicity bum-rush as Hectic Films director Rickey Bird and technical grip Anthony Galland stormed the stage and streets with their scare antics and promotions of Cinema House - Terror in 4D. The live-action event features the special effects of Hectic Films in-house makeup artist Nick Reisinger.
Live music was provided by an awesome lineup of several Bakersfield favorites including kilt-wearing Celtic music band 1916 and local latin legends Mento Buru. Check out this photo gallery of the great show and the zombie street antics.

There is one event that takes place in downtown Bakersfield nearly every month that revitalizes my hopes for a deeper cultural experience. First Friday and the celebration of local arts brings citizens out of their suburban existence and into the streets for the appreciation of beauty.
Here is a gallery of images that I shot while enjoying the wonderful feeling of a crowded street corner in our very own arts district. The Metro Galleries, The Padre Hotel and The Foundry are just a few of the participating organizations that have continued to support and push for a more tasteful Bakersfield.
